John Frederick
Johnson, son of
Joseph L. and Mary Yates
Johnson, was born in 1830 and died before 1865. He married Mary
Elizabeth Mattingly who was born in 1831 in Chaptico, St. Mary's County,
Maryland, and died in 1896. According to Ms. Cryer's book John
Frederick was a student living with J.A. Jarboe in 1850. by 1860 he
purchased a farm in the Chaptico area and was farming. On June 10,
1870 his widow remarried to a George W. Higgs,
age 30, son of John C. Higgs, at the bride's residence. Cryer lists
different birthdates for George (Sept. 1856); Catherine V. (April 23,
1863).
