Martha Lucinda
"Lula" Johnson was the daughter of
William Edward Johnson and
Mary Eliza Raley Johnson. She was born in March of 1870 and married
William Baptist Cryer. William Cryer was born on April 24, 1874 in
New York, N.Y., and died on February 29, 1948 of heart disease at the home
of his son "Teddy" Cryer in Forestville, Prince Georges County, Maryland.
He is buried in St. Joseph RCC. All but two of their children were
born in Washington, D.C. Martha Lucinda died of the flu on January
23, 1919. She is buried in St. Joseph RCC.

FOOTNOTE
Frank
Cryer met with an interesting death. He was run over by a beer wagon
in about 1913. Marguerite died on January 21, 1919 of the flu.
Joseph Mitchell also died of flu on January 26, 1919. This must have
been the great World War I post war flu epidemic. James Lowell also
died young. John "Spencer" also died fairly young in 1926 of measles
and pneumonia in Providence Hospital, Washington D.C. they are all
buried in St. Joseph's RCC in Morganza, Maryland, except Frank who is
buried in Washington, D.C. |
