Bradley Fitzgerald
Johnson, son of
Raymond J. Johnson and Marylee Ciano Johnson,
was born June 15, 1982. He is currently serving on active duty
with the Maryland National Guard. His father, my brother,
proudly writes this interesting article about Bradley's namesake and
his son's current duty assignment:
Bradley F. Johnson
is named for General Bradley T. Johnson of Frederick, Maryland who
organized the First Maryland Division CSA (in Virginia). While he
was something, his wife was an outstanding hero beyond belief (do
the research). Bradley T. is acknowledged as a forerunner of the
Maryland Army National Guard, 29th Infantry Division (Light). It
was organized from his CSA Unit as well as a Union Maryland Unit.
Our Bradley F. is a member of the 29th Infantry Division (The Blue
& The Gray) the only National Guard Unit involved with D-Day who
was first on the beaches of Omaha and was basically slaughtered
but made their objective. He is 1-115th Infantry which has one
hell of a proud heritage. He serves there proudly today wearing
the patch of the 29th which is blue and gray (check it out). He
is an E-3, the most advanced rank a Private can obtain and is the
squad SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon) gunner with the Colt SAW. He
carries it because of his excellence in basic training and his
physical condition (it ain't light).
While in a different time and place, the heritage and acts of
Bradley T. should not be diminished by the fact that he served
with the CSA, nor should his wife's achievements be lessened. You
need to research the exploits of Bradley T. a little more and you
will find he was active in Cockeysville, Towson and in Harford
County as well (including Bel Air).
Our Bradley is standing duty tonight at Edgewood and making sure
that the chemical weapons there are safe. May not mean much up
where you are but a compromise would mean certain death for those
of us here.
