1762 and died in 1806. Ms. Cryer notes the following for Benedict:

According to Ms.
Cryer Benedict Johnson, Matross, lost his leg while serving with the 2nd &
3rd Companies of the Corps of Maryland Artillery. He served under
Maj. W. Brown and received the gratuity of Congress for serving to the end
of the war, December 5, 1788. He received a land grant of 100 acres
on February 1, 1790,
