       A. Hope
      Swann, 
      daughter of Agnes N. Swann & Johnson Swann, was 
      born abt. 1913.  She studied agricultural science at the University 
      of Maryland.  She worked in upper New York state running a prison 
      farm.  Upon returning to 
      Maryland she taught school at Margaret Brent High School before she retired.  
      Her home was located near Chaptico, Maryland and was named "Gravelly 
      Hills." (see photos).  According to one source Joseph Julius 
      Johnson helped her locate this property while he was the County Agent.  
       Hope died fairly recently and is buried at 
      Christ Episcopal Church in Chaptico, Maryland.  Hope adopted Ingred 
      who was born in Germany.
