Anna
Menetta Fitzgerald, daughter of
_______ Fitzgerald and Loamie Freeburn,
was born in 1895. She married George Washington Smith.
He was born December 24, 1889 but orphaned at an early age and it is
unknown if Smith was his given name or the name of the adopting
couple. Anna died in 1984. She was known by her
grandchildren as "Me Maw." Before she was married she worked
for the Norfolk Southern Railroad Company (see passes at left).
She had very fine handwriting so she recorded the whereabouts of
railroad cars on little boxes in a large ledger. She was a
very sweet lady.
George
loved baseball and played a lot of sandlot baseball in his youth.
George died on June 8, 1967. The house on the left was their
home at 42 Cinder Rd., Timonium, Maryland. They are both buried at Meadowridge Memorial Cemetery, in Elkridge, Maryland.
